The philosophy of stoicism has become popular amongst the self improvement community. This has led stoicism to be associated with other areas of self improvement, one of which being bodybuilding or working out. Looking into the actual texts of stoicism, specifically Seneca’s Letters from a Stoic, we see that the connection is a bit more complex. Seneca is fine with quick and efficient exercises, but he really wants to prioritize training the mind over the body.
