Immune system reactivity testing. Why do this?
Sometimes a patient’s immune system can react to the materials that we use in dental work. This is especially true for those with chronic immune issues like fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
In an effort to avoid these reactions, we take a fasting blood test (meaning you don’t eat 12 before the blood draw). Then your blood sample is sent to a lab where it is tested against any substances we may use for adverse reactions.
This may not avoid every possibility of reaction, but it helps avoid many!
