Gym crew yesterday, gymin’ it.
Something occurred to me recently thinking back to when we got back into the gym this winter.
When we got started again I was down on myself for more than a month noticing and recognizing how far I had fallen from the last time I was fit over 12 years ago. I’d think I’m so fat, I can’t even look at myself. I’m so weak, I used to warm up with this weight and now I’m struggle to do a couple reps with it. I used to be able to run for over an hour, now I can’t even run for a minute.
The truth is, life happened and I fell off the wagon big time for a long time. I didnt realize at the time how working out and eating right was keeping me in line. Of course I wouldn’t be able to do what I used to do after going off course for so long. When I was fit last time all I had to worry about was keeping my job and working out. No kids, no real bills, and no real stress. This time, I have 4 kids, a wife, real bills, a business, and real stress. I’m calling this a win because never before have I been able to make the changes needed without blaming my life circumstances for my failure to get my crap together.
That’s a big W for me. This is no longer a diet, or a random stretch of workouts for a week or 2 followed by a 3 to 6 month break, it’s a healthy lifestyle that I enjoy again. I wish it didn’t take me so long to find myself again, but I’m in the right frame of mind now to ensure I never get lost again.
Still in a weight loss plateau, but enjoying the journey and feeling great either way.
Have a great day everyone. @khareef nice job on your progress!
